Charlotte Motor Speedway Time Trial Series
The 2012 Series begins on Wednesday April 11, 2012
An individual time trial is a bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock. Often referred to as "the race of truth", since winning depends on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by team-mates. The Carolina Cycling Time Trial Association (CCTTA) organizes the Charlotte Motor Speedway Time Trail Series. The series is open to all ages and abilities.

Tour de Cashiers
Saturday May 5, 2012
For 2012, we offer the same great routes we have used in 2011, including the very scenic re-route of the Full Century. We are again cooperating with the Issaqueena’s Last Ride, to present The Blue Ridge Double. The ILR will be held one week before the Tour de Cashiers, April 28th, from Walhalla, SC – our neighbor down the mountain.
|
our de Cashiers was started as a community ride by Clark Moore in 1992. There was one 11-mile route, and folks met in front of the Chamber of Commerce. It stayed this way for a couple of years. Then over the years, with the help of several local cyclists, the Tour was expanded to include multiple and longer rides, and post-ride food and entertainment. In 2001, a 75-miler was added to bring new challenges and to appeal to riders looking for something more.
The full 100-mile Century was added in 2004, and in 2006 the 50 and 75-mile rides were combined into a new Metric Century. The two century rides provide challenge and inspiration for riders wanting to tour the mountains and test their conditioning on an all-day supported ride.

Law Enforcement Bike to DC
May 9-14, 2012 Five Hundred for Fred
Law Enforcement officers from Mecklenburg County ride bicycles 500 miles over four days from Charlotte to Washington, DC. From the start in Charlotte and all along the way we are joined by fellow officers and citizens from towns and cities on the route who ride with us to show support for our cause - a ride in honor and memory of those who have died in the line of duty. Though the journey is not easy, each mile is a tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. At the completion of the ride we attend the Candlelight Vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.
